Shortlisted for best new business @WNWA
This week I had a letter through the door saying That I have been shortlisted for "Best New Wedding Business 2015" at the Welsh National Wedding Awards To say I am pleased is a under statement. Last year I gave myself a goal for the business to get nominated for the best photographer, it was a big goal with the quality of photographers in South Wales being so strong and creative. The award that I have been shortlisted for covers everything in the wedding business which makes this bigger than just photography and recognises all the hard work and growth that my business has gone through since I started less than 2 years ago, with my first wedding at the Canada Lake Lodge.
I have always thought of it as 60%business 40% photography due to me wanting a successful business from my love of photography. In the past year I have spent more time reading about starting a business and marketing than learning about photography, and applying small changes every month to the business. Each month I re-evaluate the business and highlight problems and success and build on the 2 to keep moving forward. You can't just let success happen to you, you need to hunt for it. I have big goals for the next two years with expanding the business, moving into a studio in a prime location, and to get them I have to do all of the above and focus on my own business and photography. It very easy to beat yourself up over what others are doing, but like the photographer your business will have a different personality to others and that whats makes wedding businesses stand out amongst others is the personality of the business.
